Yes, the rash associated with strep throat is called scarlet fever or scarletina. It is a rough, red, sandpaper like rash, and can be accompanied by a fever over 101, aches/pains, headache, nausea/vomiting, stomachache, sore throat or difficulty swallowing/swollen throat, and swollen lymph nodes on the neck. If you think you may have strep throat, please seek medical attention to get antibiotics.
Yes. My son had strep last year with no fever and just a sore throat and a cold and he had strep. They gave him arithromyacin and strong antihistimines and he got better. Last night he was at band camp and he got a very huge rash all over his body. I raced him to my dr who fortunately has night time hours now and the dr said it was an allergic reaction. I told him that I think it may be strep and that I think he should test him. He did and it turned out that he has strep again and the dr was really surprised that I was right. You absolutely can have strep with no fever and a rash can be a sign of it. I think its other wise known as scarlet fever. He seems to be doing better this morning after 2 doses of arithromyacin, one last night and one this morning plus antihistimines
Sounds like a yeast infection with the rash. Does the baby have white spots on his tonsils? That is strep throat. If he has strep take him to the doctor.
Scarlet fever is a case of strep throat with a bright red rash. The rash does not have a specific shape, but it will appear bright red and all over the body.
It could possibly be scarlet fever which is a rash from untreated strep throat. You must have antibiotics to cure it. Good luck.
Scarlet fever is a rash that is caused by strep infections.
Among other things, it could be shingles (which might be contagious).
It can be but it is not likely, scarlet fever is a severe case of strep throat mixed with a rash.
it usauallly last around 1 to 2 weeks at the least
You can most definitely give someone strep. You need to be under medication for 24 hours before you are no longer contagious. You can give it to someone by coughing on them or just being in close contact.
Yes, at the age of four I had a severe allergic reaction that for five days no doctor could account for. After many tests they concluded that I am indeed allergic to strep throat. Now I always have a course of antibiotics close and have to take them as soon as any symptoms arise.
Yes,but MOST people do NOT. If it is a resistant strain of strep,or your body has immunity to penicillin...
I'm not sure wher scarlet fever started, but are you aware that it is just strep throat presenting with a rash?
Yes, ... my son recently approached me one night with a red, rough rash that resembled tiny little bumps all over his chest and his back. The rash hadn't yet spread to the lower abomen and back, but we went to the ER to get checked out. He did not have a fever, his throat was red - according to the Dr., and he maybe had a slight cough, but nothing really persistent. Definietly nothing that would have me concerned that he might have strep throat...His throat culture for strep came back negative, but the Dr. placed him on antibotics for ten days...the rash cleared up in around two days, and it never spread further....so I am still questioning whether or not this was due to strep throat, but it makes sense. They called it a "Scarletina" rash. - from strep. They also said even though a culture comes back negative, you can't always trust the results. My son is fine now, and no more rash!
