Because Shih Tzu have large eyes with shallow sockets, they may be prone to more eye problems than other breeds. They can suffer from glaucoma, but that does not mean that they will. The glaucoma may be due to other ailments (such as lymphoma, hypothyroid, and cushing's disease, lyme's disease), not necessarily a problem with the eyeball itself.
Glaucoma is also known as bleeding eye and is due to excessive pressure in the eye, which sometimes causes it to bleed.
