I was told by my friend who use to research before formulating an idea. He said that Hong Kong people don't need to drive in their Country because the public transit is very eficient and reliable. The rich use drivers, the poor can't afford a car.
Normally they don't have sports or ride bikes which develops peripheral vision capability. I have a couple of HK friends that confirmed they are not sports oriented and most never drove before coming here.
My friend said if people don't develop Peripheral Vision by the age of 16, they lost the chance. When they immigrate normally at the age of 35+, it's the first time they drive and with no background in sports that needs peripheral vision.
That's why first generation of Hong Kong people can't drive. I wouldn't say the same thing about Chinese though because they may have driven bicycles or had activities in their youth that requires peripheral vision, such as Martial Arts, soccer, even paying Chess, which makes it easier to assimilate driving.
I don't think it's a genetic problem because the 2nd generation born here is perfectly able.
Younger people tend to have better peripheral vision than older people, as age-related changes such as reduced eye muscle flexibility and overall eye health can affect peripheral vision. However, individual differences and factors such as eye health and lifestyle habits can also influence peripheral vision abilities.

What is peripheral vision when driving a car
The peripheral vision allows snails to see from behind.
There is no scientific evidence to suggest that Asians have different peripheral vision than people of other ethnicities. Peripheral vision is determined by the structure and function of the eye, which is consistent across human populations regardless of ethnicity. Any differences in peripheral vision would likely be attributed to individual variations rather than ethnicity.

if that was the case the NBA and NFL wouldn't be filled with black people
Central vision refers to the clear, detailed vision that occurs at the center of our field of view. Fringe vision includes the area surrounding central vision and provides some detail but less clarity. Peripheral vision refers to the outer edges of our vision field, detecting motion and objects in our surroundings but with limited detail.
Tunnle Vision.
No: peripheral vision is the vision you are not really aware of, that is the bits around the edges of your vision. Binocular vision is using two eyes together to focus on an object in front of you.
