Its not possible to be allergic to pepperoni itself. You may be allergic to one of the herbs inside of it, or maybe something got into the meat.

But for some it is very possible to be allergic to pepperoni itself. An allergy diagnosed in recent years is "alpha-gal" -- sometimes called the "red meat allergy". For those with alpha-gal, any meat (or even by-products) from a mammal can cause reactions ranging from minor nausea and/or hives to severe (life-threatening) anaphylactic shock. (Turkey pepperoni without any beef or pork may well be safe for these people.) Alpha-gal is rapidly in various regions around the world including the southeast US and is known to be potentially caused by the bite of the Lone Star tick. Search for "alpha-gal".
