If you have herpes 3 months prior to getting pregnant, you body has developed antibodies and it is less likely that you would pass it to the fetus. If you get infected while pregnant you could pass it to the fetus.

It is important if you have herpes that you let your doctor know. Herpes is typically transferred to the baby during labor through the birth canal. If you have an outbreak during labor they will do a C-Section.

The herpes virus, if passed on to a baby, can cause major infections, brain damage, physical disabilities, and even death. That's one reason why herpes and childbirth is such an important topic. But it is not common for a baby to receive herpes from the womb Most women who have herpes and give birth have perfectly healthy children. But, since there is always a risk of a baby contracting herpes from his mother, special care and considerations must be provided during pregnancy.

It is crucial that pregnant women infected with HSV-1 or HSV-2 go to prenatal care visits and tell their doctor if they have ever experienced any symptoms of, been exposed to, or been diagnosed with genital herpes. Sometimes genital herpes infection can lead to miscarriage or premature birth. Herpes infection can be passed from mother to child resulting in a potentially fatal infection (neonatal herpes). It is important that women avoid contracting herpes during pregnancy.

A woman with genital herpes may be offered antiviral medication from 36 weeks gestation through delivery to reduce the risk of an outbreak. At the time of delivery a woman with genital herpes should undergo careful examination. If herpes symptoms are present at delivery, a cesarean delivery (also called a 'C-section') is usually performed.

If you have hurpes can you still get pregnant?

Absolutely YES! Genital herpes may be passed from one person to another through close physical contact. This means sex and practically anything else that can lead to sex. This includes kissing, oral sex, anal sex, etcetera. Genital herpes does not keep you from getting pregnant. In fact, if you or your partner have genital herpes you should see a doctor immediately. The doctor can show you how to use safer birth control so you don't pass the herpes virus to each other (or anyone else) and do his/her best to make sure you don't get pregnant. Babies born to mothers with Herpes generally contract herpes when they are born from the vagina. Many times, women with genital herpes are forced to have a caesarean delivery (when they cut her tummy open and get the baby out) just to protect the baby from getting Herpes. This is VERY SERIOUS! See a doctor and learn what to do to protect yourself and your partner and NOT get pregnant until you learn more.

Well, of course there is the fact that there is a chance the STD will pass down to your child. But if you are currently pregnant, fret not. Out of about 25% of the women who have Herpes, only 0.1% of the babies actually contract the disease. No worrys Sir/Ma'am

Yes he can.YES they can. Herpes doesn't affect fertility, sperm, or the reproductive systemYes, and a woman who had Herpes can also have the child but often with c-section so the baby don't get Herpes during birth. If she does not have Herpes it would be a good idea to contact a doctor so you can avoid passing it to her.

If your mom had herpes would you be born with it?

You would only be likely to get herpes if your mother had genital herpes and you caught the infection when she had an outbreak at the time of birth. Most people don't get herpes at birth, even if their mothers are infected.

If you have herpes in yr mouth and you get pregnant will it harm the baby?

You should talk to your doctor about specific preventative care for you or unborn child. Don't be afraid or embarrassed to ask.I found these answers on the International Herpes Alliance pages.HSV can cause sores on the face and lips (facial herpes, for example "cold sores"), or sores on the genitals (genital herpes). HSV-1 is the usual cause of facial herpes, and HSV-2 is the usual cause of genital herpes. But either type of HSV can infect either part of the body. Either type can also infect a newborn baby.* HSV (herpes simplex virus) is most often spread to an infant during birth if the virus is present in the birth canal during delivery. * HSV can also be spread to the baby if he or she is kissed by someone who suffers from coldsores. * In rare instances, HSV may be spread by touch, if someone touches an active cold sore and immediately touches the baby. So monitor yourself and those that come in close contact with your new baby! Hope this helps.

Is it bad for a parent to kiss a 2 month old baby on the lips?

No. A parent has the right to kiss a baby right on the lips. The baby is a parents child and a parent has rights over the baby. That is my opinion.Of course parents can kiss their babies on the lips, however if the parents have had cold sores in the past, ( a herpes virus) then they take the chance of passing on the herpes virus to their baby.

Can you spread herpes to your baby when you change his diaper?

If you touch the sores or fluids from the sores and then the baby's skin, yes you can. Fluids found in a herpes sore carry the virus, and contact with those fluids can cause infection. If you touch your sores or the fluids from the sores, you may transfer herpes to another part of your own body or to someone else. Do not touch the sores or fluids to avoid spreading herpes. If you touch the sores or fluids, immediately wash your hands thoroughly to help avoid spreading your infection.
