I am not a medical doctor, but I can speak from many months of debilitating experience that YES - an IUD can be linked to recurrent UTI's. I had my IUD inserted in January of 2008. Prior to insertion, I had one prior UTI in my entire life. After insertion, I had debilitating UTI's that eventually landed me in a urologist's office. He performed a bladder distention and observed that the damage from my recurrent infections had caused alarming tearing and scarring of the inside of my bladder. I resolved to believe that these infections, which would occur anywhere from every couple of weeks to every couple of months, were a part of my life that I would have to deal with the best that I could. Then, after making the decision to have the IUD removed in June of 2010, I realized that the infections stopped as abruptly as they had started. I stopped taking precautions- the cranberry pills, peeing before and after sex - and I found that the infections still didn't return. I have not had a UTI in SEVEN MONTHS. I feel a sense of immense relief that I cannot even begin to explain. I don't have to be a slave to these awful infections ever again. The only common denominator was the IUD. I don't know if there is some kind of transfer of bacteria (although I don't know how this can occur) or if there is some kind of chemical change going on due to hormonal imbalance caused by the IUD. I just know I will never do IUD ever again. After the next baby, I'm taking my husband straight to surgery for a snip and clip!
An IUD well know as an Intrauterine Device should not cause a yeast infection for it is specifically meant for the inner body which means it is clean and safe to be inside your vagina. About complications, it does have quite a number of them and it would be wise if you researched well about it before you choose it (that is if you don't have it yet). These are just some of the complications you might get:-
A urinary tract infection is not a symptom of pregnancy. The vast majority of men and women with UTIs are not pregnant. Especially the men.
Biaxin, as well as other antibiotics, can cause yeast infections. This occurs when the antibiotic eliminates the "normal" or good bacteria.
Stress may cause yeast infections.
No, a yeast infection should not cause complications with hernia or colon surgery. However, it will depend on the location and severity of the yeast infection.Ê
No- Z-pak is an antibiotic to cure bacterial infections. Prescription Flucanzol (Diflucan) or OTC monostat is for Vaginal Yeast infections. There are several other prescription medications used for oral thrush. Antibiotics can actually cause yeast infections as a side effect

I have thyroid ang why do I keep getting yeast infection?
Not always, but it is a possible symptom.
Wearing starched undergarments may cause irritation which may mimic the symptoms of a yeast infection. Yeast infections can also be caused by wearing undergarments made of nylon and similar materials, as these do not absorb moisture well.
yes, some yeast extracts do have live spores in but they cannot cause infections because they are harmless spores. hope you find this useful from abi age 13
