Is it right to extract a tooth with a root canal treatment simply because without nerves the tooth is considered dead and assumed to have a negative effect on one's overall health?
No. Firstly, a tooth that has had root canal treatment is not dead. The tooth still receives nourishment and support from the tissues around it and does not fall out. It remains held in place by surrounding ligaments. Sobek

A root canal means the dentist cleans out the root of the tooth. He or she drills out the nerves and blood supply to the tooth. The tooth may have one, two, three, or four roots. Each root is cleaned out, filled, and then a regular filling is placed in the rest of the tooth.

I wished I had an answer to this question. During a root canal recently I could feel pain in a completely different tooth that wasn't even being worked on. And ever since then it has been bothering me? My dentist doesn't know why? WTH?
