Yes, though it may not work properly.

The metal braces are made of is not very magnetic, so that's not a huge problem. However, the presence of that much metal can interfere with the radio waves used to perform the MRI, which in turn can result in poor imaging.

There are a number of factors controlling how extensive this interference will be, meaning that in general it's not possible to tell ahead of time whether the imaging will work or not.

If the braces result in a poor image, you'll need to have them taken off so that the imaging can be redone.

Are clear orthodontic braces as effective as traditional metal braces for straightening teeth, and what are the key differences between the two in terms of appearance, comfort, and treatment duration?

Clear orthodontic braces and traditional metal braces are both effective at straightening teeth, but they have some key differences in terms of appearance, comfort, and treatment duration. Appearance: Clear orthodontic braces, also known as ceramic braces, are designed to blend in with the natural color of your teeth, making them less noticeable compared to traditional metal braces. They use clear or tooth-colored brackets and wires, offering a more discreet option for patients who are concerned about the appearance of their braces. On the other hand, traditional metal braces are more visible due to the use of metal brackets and wires. Comfort: In terms of comfort, both clear orthodontic braces and traditional metal braces may cause some discomfort or irritation initially as the teeth adjust to the pressure exerted by the braces. However, clear braces tend to have smoother edges and may cause less irritation to the cheeks and gums compared to traditional metal braces, which can have sharper edges. Treatment Duration: The treatment duration for clear orthodontic braces and traditional metal braces can vary depending on the individual patient's orthodontic needs and the complexity of the case. In general, treatment with clear braces may take slightly longer than with traditional metal braces, as they may exert less force on the teeth. However, advances in orthodontic technology have made clear braces more efficient in recent years, reducing the difference in treatment duration between the two options. As Angle House Orthodontics & Specialist Dentistry, we offer both clear orthodontic braces and traditional metal braces to our patients, allowing them to choose the option that best suits their preferences and lifestyle. Our experienced orthodontists will evaluate each patient's orthodontic needs and provide personalized treatment plans to achieve optimal results, whether they opt for clear braces or traditional metal braces.

Orthodontic Insurance?

If you have children, you should check into orthodontic insurance. Orthodontic insurance helps pay for braces and other orthodontic devices. Braces can cost you $5,000 per child, and that's just a baseline figure. With orthodontic insurance, you can get ahead of the problem and be ready when your child needs braces. It's not a good idea to wait until a child is a teeanger to try and get coverage. Children as young as five often need an orthodonitc device to help quit sucking their thumb. Sometimes orthodontists use preventative techniques which start as young as seven or eight.
