A Storesman is a position in a going concern who is responsible for receiving all stock for that area, this includes but is not limited to:
- Perishable goods
- Hygiene supplies
- Tools
- Ammunition
He is in-charge of receiving and quality checking these items to ensure they are to the company's standards.
He is also responsible for having these items added to his stock (whether it be a warehouse or store rooms) and ensuring that they are rotating on a First In First Out basis.
Parishable goods are taken care of properly so as to prevent any wastage.
Depending on your company's policy, he is also in-charge of carrying out inventories periodically in all areas to calculate the materiel at hand.
