A Canadian citizen with an offer of work in the United States needs an H-1B Visa. The H-1B Visa is a non-immigrant visa that allows US employers to hire foreign workers. If the person holding the visa quits or loses the job, they have to apply for a change of status, find another job, or leave the country.

The easiest way for a Canadian to work in the United states is to obtain a TN Work Permit, which is NOT under Immigration, but a by product of the NAFTA agreement. It is only valid for one year, and obtained upon entry at border points to the US. It is renewable indefinite, assuming no criminal record and correct documentation is in order.

Look it up under TN visa.

Being a US Citizen entitles a person to a great number of privileges than being a green card holder. A person can become a US Citizen only after becoming a green card holder. A person should have been a green card holder for 5 yrs or 3yrs ( if married to a US citizen).Green card and then citizenship is the valid, designated route.

Absolutely!! A Green card is the valid document that entitles any person to live and work in the Us permanently. The Green card is valid only for 10 years( needs to be renewed) but the status of a permanent resident is for the lifetime of the person. The Green card is the key to becoming a US citizen as only a LPR can file in citizenship application(after satisfying other criteria)
