Such a map shows the height and terrain of landforms, so allowing an understanding of the surrounding geography, and the resulting settlement of people.

Globes are important because they help us with geography, and show us the location of distant places. Unlike a map, globes are the exact figure, or model of the earth. Without globes, no one would know what the earth really looks like, and there would be no maps, because they are based on globes.
The five themes of geography (location, place, human-environment interaction, movement, and region) help us analyze and understand different aspects of the Earth's physical and human characteristics. They provide a framework for studying how people and environments are interconnected and how they shape the world around us.
True. The study of geography, along with the use of charts and graphs, can help us visualize spatial relationships, identify patterns, and gain new insights into how the world is interconnected. It allows us to understand global phenomena and make informed decisions based on data analysis and spatial representation.
Geography covers everything in our everyday life. A map of NBA teams can answer questions such as absolute and relative locations from your home city. You can also explore how long it takes to get from your home city to the NBA city your team is playing or will play, its direction from your city, population. An interesting idea is to see how geography influences the name of a team. Ex. Boston Celtics, heavy Irish population, San Antonio Spurs (cattle & cowboys). What about the L.A. Lakers???? Well, the team was the Minneapolis Lakers, and when it moved to L.A. it kept the name. Team names can tell you what industry is prevalent in the city--ex. Chicago Bulls. (meat packing). I have taught geography for over 40+ years even though we no longer have pure geography. Sports geography makes it more relevant & interesting. elevation
Contour lines enable us to see changes in elevation using an overhead map
A vertical interval in an Orthophoto map refers to the difference in elevation between contour lines or other elevation markers on the map. It represents the height difference between two adjacent elevation points on the map. This measurement is crucial for understanding the topography and terrain of the area depicted in the Orthophoto map. A smaller vertical interval indicates steeper terrain, while a larger vertical interval suggests more gradual slopes.

A world map can help us understand the Earth's geography, including the distribution of continents, oceans, and countries. It also shows us the size relationship between different regions of the world and can highlight patterns such as population density or climate zones. Ultimately, a world map serves as a tool for visualizing and analyzing global spatial relationships.
The lines on a topographic map are called contour lines. These lines represent points of equal elevation above or below a reference point, such as sea level. Contour lines help us visualize the shape and features of the land surface on a two-dimensional map.

Contour lines are oddly shaped because they represent points on the map that have the same elevation. They can curve, bend, or even form irregular shapes to show changes in the elevation of the land. These contours help us visualize the three-dimensional shape of the terrain on a two-dimensional map.
