As with most science subjects; they explain what evidence has been found and how scientist interpret that evidence.
Oh yes, scientists are also members of society, and they are influenced by prevalent views. However, a really good scientist will spot when his or her own observational data disagrees with social assumptions, and will draw the right conclusion. Science has a history of overcoming its preconceptions.

There were two different views since Korea was divided into North and South Korea, and both Korea's had different leaders with different views on how they wanted to keep Korea under control if it was to be reunified.
Africa is a continent, not a country or a region. I imagine many different places have many different views.

Scientific debates let scientists work out different views. Debates present differing ideas and views with that scientist's "scientific evidence", but scientists do not always agree and cannot always resolve the problem(s). Debates are like a think tank. They generate more ideas than declaring one solution or answer.
