What is it about science as a way of knowing that makes it self-correcting?

Science is based on observation, rather than on dogma. Everything in science is constantly being tested. Scientists are trained to take nothing on faith, but to observe as much as they can. Scientists know that they may observe something that other scientists missed. So scientific error (or fraud) does get detected.

How long has forensic science been used?

"Forensic science" is almost a tautology, since forensics is the business of proving things and that's what all science seeks to do. However, supposing that the question means, "How long has science been used for evidence in trials at law?"the answer is almost as long as science has been recognized. Archimedes' discovery of specific gravity was in connection with a case of fraud.

What are the good and bad things about science?

Science is a big part of the school curriculum, and I believe that it is important that we learn about the world around us. I enjoy Science a lot because I discover things and facts I didn't know and do experiments to explain questions and charts to help with the experiment. Science has a lot of explanations that prove statements.

What is the basic principles of forensic science?

I assume you mean the type of forensic science you see on tv shows like CSI:Miami however criminal forensic investigation is only one amount many many forensic fields.Forensic by definition means "of or before the forum." It is the application of a broad spectrum of sciences to answer questions of interest to a legal system. This may be in relation to a crime or a civil action (an audit of some sort is a forensic investigation - forensic accounting). The principles of forensic accounting work like so:Insiders in a corporation's accounting department among many responsibilities are supposed to detect fraud. Sometimes they are able to successfully do this and sometimes not.Approximately 60% of fraudulent activity is reported through someone informing the accounting department what has been going on or by accident. When that happens an external forensic accounting investigator is usually called in to investigate the books. From there a thorough external, objective investigation of the company's compliations, tax reviews, audits, wealth management and what have you is conducted.

How do embryos provide evidence of evolution?

It was previously thought that the early stages of the human embryo were similar to those found in other types of creatures (Haeckel's diagrams), but it has now been shown that this is not quite conclusive (google "Haeckel diagram fraud"). There is still a lot of research going on in this area, and the data is constantly changing.
