There is a famous passage in Psalms 90, which the King James version translated as

lifespan of 70 years (and any more than that is gravy).

And don't forget Abe Lincoln at Gettysburg, reminding his audience of our forefathers

who brought forth a new nation "fourscore and seven years ago", i.e. 87 years before

the Gettysburg Address on November 19, 1863 . . . in 1776 .
