Controlled observation is a type of observational study where thesituations areplanned by the researcher. This type of observation may be carried out in a laboratory type situation and because variables are manipulated is said to be high in control.

The weakness of the method is that it will be low in ecological validity compared to naturalistic observation. If participants are aware they are being studied they behave differently.

What are the different methods of observation?

The different methods of observation include naturalistic observation, structured observation, participant observation, and controlled observation. Naturalistic observation involves observing subjects in their natural environment without interference. Structured observation involves creating specific conditions for observation. Participant observation involves the researcher actively participating in the environment being observed. Controlled observation involves manipulating and controlling variables during the observation process.

What are the three types of observation in language study?

Three types of observation in language study are body language, the tone of the person, and the overall attitiude. That is the easiest way of determining the overall idea of what the person is trying to convey.

When scientists cannot use a controlled experiment to test something what do they depend on?

Observation

What is the difference between controlled and naturalistic observation?

Controlled observation involves manipulating variables to test specific hypotheses in a controlled environment, while naturalistic observation involves studying participants in their natural settings without intervention or control of variables. Control observation allows for more precision and control over variables, while naturalistic observation provides a more realistic view of behavior in its natural context.

Distinguish between a qualitative and quantitative observation?

Qualitative observation is subjective. Quantitative observation is the result of controlled testing procedures with prescribed procedures in place. Quantitative testing is sometimes called empirical testing.

What are the differences between laboratory observation and naturalistic observation?

Laboratory observation takes place in a controlled environment where researchers manipulate variables, while naturalistic observation occurs in the subject's natural environment without interference. Laboratory observation allows for more precise control over variables and conditions, whereas naturalistic observation provides insights into real-world behaviors and interactions.

What are two types of scientific investigations that scientist use when a controlled experiment is not practical?

When a controlled experiment is not possible or practical, two types of scientific investigations are observation and modeling.

What is an observation of natural phenomena carried out in a controlled manner so that the results can be duplicated?

An experiment is an observation of natural phenomena carried out in a controlled manner so that the results can be duplicated. This typically involves testing a hypothesis by manipulating variables and measuring outcomes to draw conclusions based on the findings.

What is the difference between a controlled experiment and observation?

all it is is the uncontrolled experiment is a little bit different
