Light is responsible for keeping you alive. If plants didn't make energy from sunlight, you'd have nothing to eat because everything depends on plants for their energy - the beef and chicken and fish you eat have all eaten plants so you'd starve if there was no light for plants to make energy from.

You also use light in many other ways - seeing is a big one. People use artificial lights to be able to see after the sun goes down, which allows us to work longer hours and enjoy entertainment that would not be possible without light.
