heres a basic example of what alchemy is...alchemy is basic science and heres an experiment to change water from liquid to solid with just a touch of a finger (literally).
Check tips!
Okay what you do is:
Gather the materials- bowl, jar, thermometer, ice, water, salt
step 1- fill the jar with cold water
step 2- fill the bowl with ice and pour salt over it ( to keep the ice from melting)
step 3-put the jar of water in the bowl BUT make sure the water line is below that of the ice. or in other words make sure the ice is taller than the water line.
step 4- put the thermometer in the jar and wait until the temperature is 30F
step 5- THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP! carefully take out the thermometer. try not to disturb the water. The SLOWLY take out the jar (any jumpy movements will disturb the perfect balance and effectively ruin your experiment. ) then set it down on a counter next to the jar.
step 6- take a small piece of ice (or your finger, though i wouldn't recommend it) and drop it in.
Step 7- watch as ice forms in front of your eyes with only a small touch. feel it, its real ice.
TIPS- please make sure it is 30F it wont work if its not. to get to that temperature it usually takes about 15 min.
AND THERE IS ALCHEMY!
Alchemy is sometimes referred to as 'early chemistry'. It was Robert Boyle who, in the 17th century, changed alchemy to chemistry. Alchemy derives from an Arabic word meaning chemistry.
No. Alchemy was done in Alexandria Egypt.

Alchemy was a skill developed by the Egyptians as they learned to do metallergy and work with chemicals. Through experimentation, and an obsession with gold being the 'perfect metal', they were able to make elixirs. Search the internet and you will find a few websites with photos of alchemy work. I have over 100 photos on my website, but I can't post it here or this will be removed as 'spam'.
The purpose of alchemy was to turn common metals into valuable metals. For example - turning lead into gold
