Fossil fuels are coal, natural gas, and oil.. etc. They are generally used to produce engergy to power equipment, cars, lights.. Plastic is made from refined oil I believe, as is gasoline. Coal has been used for generations to burn for heat too!

Coal, oil and natural gas. They are called fossil, because they began 300 million years ago when trees and other organic material were compressed underground. Now we dig them up and burn them to make electricity, and they release carbon dioxide from long ago.
