They are nonliving. Water does not need food waterfalls are basically homes for things living in the water. Biology is the study of living and nonliving things, and characteristics of living things are homeostasis, organization, metabolism, growth, adaptation, response to, and reproduction. Waterfalls do none of these things therefor waterfalls are nonliving. They carry things that are living.
