A cell is a basic component of living matter consisting of components which adapt to a partcular organisms needs. Most cells consist of at least a nucleus, a membrane and cytoplasm. However a prokaryotic cell (such as bacteria) does not contain a nucleus. Some cells are specialized to do a particular task; this is the reason red blood cells have no nucleus. It is so they can carry more oxygen. Some cells have cilia, others flagellum. Cells come in different shapes and sizes, the biggest difference being in plant cells to animal cells.

In terms of circuits a cell is a component which moves electrons around the circuit. It may be easier to think of it in terms of batteries a battery is a collection of one or more cells, so a cell is a weaker version of a battery.
