Contrary to the previous answer, Gregor does not die because of his father. Gregor wills himself to die alone in his room because he feels horrible for being such a burden on his family and because he over heard his sister (whom he thought still loved him) talking to his parents saying that she couldn't stand Gregor and that she wanted to get rid of him. This complete alienation and lack of love and compassion led Gregor to realize he was unwelcome and out of misery, he willed himself to die.
Neither. Alligators are not a species which undergo metamorphosis. Incidentally, why was this classified under Slugs and Snails?

Gregor Samsa - EP - was created in 2002.
The office clerk comes to the Samsa house to inquire about Gregor's absence from work. He wants to investigate the reasons behind Gregor's sudden change in behavior and absence without any prior notice. The clerk's visit is a representation of the growing concern and curiosity of Gregor's colleagues about his unexplained absence.
In Kafka's "The Metamorphosis," Gregor's death may symbolize the loss of a burden or the freedom from societal expectations that had been weighing down the Samsa family. It could also represent a new beginning or the opportunity for the family to move on and rebuild their lives after the trauma of Gregor's transformation. Ultimately, his death may bring a sense of closure and allow the family to rediscover their own identities outside of the constraints imposed by Gregor's presence.
