Fraternal twins are the product of two separate combinations of ovum and sperm at the same time, resulting in genetically different children with a shared womb.
Identical twins are the result of one ovum-sperm combination, which then splits into two separate children who are genetically identical.
If the two children born from one pregnancy are genetically near 100% identical (with consideration for mutations and genetic alterations after the split or post-natal), they are identical.
If the two children have closer to normal sibling genetic similarity (around 50%) but just share a birth time, they are fraternal.
Also, identical twins share the same gender. If twins are of different gender, they must be fraternal (though fraternal twins can be same gender as well).
Twins usually skip a generation. If both sides have them the likelyhood is good. If only one does then it decreases but its possible. Ask one of the older family members on each side if there were twins, if you cant, then try family ancestry sites. There are two types of twins, Fraternal and Identical. To date, there has been no genetic link to identical twins. There is, however, a genetic link to fraternal twins, passed through the female side. That is the propensity to drop more than one egg when ovulating. Other non-genetic factors for having more than one egg at a time include being over weight and being older.
Taking fertility pills increases the chances. The chance of having twins goes up with being slightly overweight. Older women also have a larger chance of having twins.
i don't know how to explain it but i can show you an example- Peter and Alexzander are twins. The twins have a amazing water-bed. to combine it it will be like this- The twins, Alexzander and Peter have and amazing water-bed.
If you don't know the answer to this, you should not be having sex. The answer is yes, you are safe. You were never not safe.
Identical twins (monozygotic) occur when a single egg, fertilized by a single sperm, splits into two identical halves. Two separate babies with identical DNA are formed. Identical twins are always the same sex and blood type. http://www.twin-pregnancy-and-beyond.com/identical-twins-or-fraternal-twins.html
There is Identical twins, Nonidentical twins and Conjoined twins.
No it doesn't mean you're having twins.
It is the same for any other pregnancy. Abortion does not change the randomness of identical twins or the familiar tendency to have fraternal twins.
No, that is normal for a single pregnancy.
Yes. There shouldn't be any reason why not. - CDM
As soon as you see the second head coming out.. Or when you have a scan or when you go to the doctor & they tell you what you having #bow
From what i know, if your twins are identical then you have no increased chance of having twins a second time. If your twins are fraternal, you are twice as likely to have twins again because fraternal twins are the result of more than egg being released and that is a genetic trate.
I am sure there is am mathematical equation out there somewhere on percentages but that I don't know. I know twins run in our family. My mom had twins her 2nd pregnancy. Her 1st was me and I was a loner, then my twin sisters, then 2more single births. My little brother and my baby sister. So for my mom, 4 pregnancies, only 1 twin. Now before you go getting all excited (unless up want more twins), her sister got pregnant 3 times & had twins all 3 times! My me mom says my aunt has always been an over achiever & a show off though LOL!
A doctor can tell you or when you give birth to them you would know. Fraternal twins is two separate eggs from the ovaries get fertilised.
The Twins themselves are usually smaller than single pregnancy Babies. The mother will be more fatigued by having to go o two deliveries. ANd that's about it.
I'm late on my period and having alot of signs of pregnancy. If I'm pregnant with twins would that cause my hormone levels to be lower and cause a negative test?
if you are a twin there is 100% chance that you get pregnant and have twins. even your cousins can have twins if they know that they come from the generation as yours [added by another user] If you are female and you are a fraternal twin, you are at increased likelihood to conceive twins. If you are an identical twin or male, your chances of having twins are about the same as anyone elses, roughly 1:80 births.
The fact that twins run in families is actually a myth. The odds of twins having twins is the same as a non-twin having twins. That is about 1 in 33.
