First, do you mean milliLITERS or milliMETERS? I assume milliliters because a millimeter is a unit of distance.

Second, a milliliter is a unit of volume, not weight, so you have to know what substance is being measured. A denser substance will take less space even though it weighs the same as a more diffuse substance. For example, 40 grams of lead takes up roughly the size of a sugar cube, 40 grams of water would fit in a large shot glass, and 40 grams of air takes up more space than a bathtub.
