Women are now more accepted into the workplace as people have been able to overcome their discrimmination based on gender. This has enabled women to achieve basically any job they want. In the past, this was not so. Rights for women were poor and in some workplaces, they rarely existed. Instead, it was their duty to remain at home and do basic housework as opposed to generating an income. Change came in the form of World War 1, when many jobs were needed to be filled after the men were sent to fight. Once the war finished, many women were unwilling to give up their new-found independence and fought for their right to remain in the workplace. They eventually gained these rights and are now indispensable to the Australian workforce. - WikiMaster262
