Try a solution of common white vinegar and baking soda, but not too often since vinegar is an acid. Try Dawn liquid soap if you're trying to get grease out. It's less harsh than engine/industrial degreaser. But, remember! Dawn is NOT a laundry detergent, so use sparingly and repeat as necessary, instead of using a lot in one load.
