EXOCYTOSIS-When a large particle must be removed from the cell, the cell uses a different process. In EXOCYTOSIS,vesicles are formed at the endoplasmic reticulum or Golgi complex and carry the particles to the cell membrane.ENDOCYTOSIS-In ENDOCYTOSIS, the cell membrane surrounds a particle and encloses it in a vesicle. This is how large particles, such as other cells, can be brought into a cell.They both require the use of ATP though, like active transport. However, passive transport doesn't require ATP.Phagocytosis is the cell that takes in large particles. This is used in biology.

Selective Media - Our cell membrane has a selective permeable property. This type of membranes are important when we want to allow certain sized particles to enter while restricting other sized particles to enter our cell. Selective permeable membrane is of great use in biological samples.

The process that moves materials into cells is called endocytosis. During endocytosis, the cell membrane surrounds particles or substances outside the cell, forming a vesicle. The vesicle then fuses with the cell membrane and releases its contents into the cell.
The cell use something called a protein channel that helps larger particles across the cell membrane.
The Lugol's solution particles were able to cross the model cell membrane, while the starch particles were too large to pass through. Starch is a large molecule that cannot diffuse across the membrane, while Lugol's solution contains smaller molecules (iodine and iodide ions) that are able to pass through.
