The concept of Qblinks started in March 2013, way before iOS 7 was released. By then on the market, there was no such product designed for smartphone remote notifications. And then by the time iOS7 released on September 2013, the concept and Qblinks prototype just worked perfectly with it.
Qblinks team started working on BLE in March 2013, and gradually realized that Bluetooth Low Energy will surely play an important role in internet of Things in the future, so the team decided to cut in with Qblinks.
Our development team is located in Taipei, Taiwan, while our distribution center is located in Santa Ana, California. Therefore, the warehouse is close to the main market, and the development team is close to the manufacturer for tuning.
There are certain key features that differentiate it from others. First, Qblinks Cloud controls how users connect and share. Then, Qblinks can play as both Server and Client at the same time; in other words, it can remotely control iPhone features like Home, Siri or music player and also receive notifications directly from iOS notification center. Therefore, considering its multiple uses, it's fair to call it a Swiss Army knife.
When a user gets certain notifications, the LED lights blink in a specific color and pattern that the user assigns with Qblinks app. The only button on Qblinks allows users to activate Siri, use it as the Home button on iPhone, the camera shutter, music player control, or to send signals to the Qblinks Cloud. The Qblinks Cloud provides personalized settings for notification on Qblinks as well as how user wants to process the information, such as store it on Google drive or share with friends. With the Qblinks Cloud, Qblinks connects to other social platforms and expands it even broader.
People don't usually wear more than one watch or glasses at the same time while Qblinks works best in a "one-to-multiple" model. A single users may have multiple Qblinks, or family members interacting with the Qblinks Cloud. While it can be worn, it can also be placed in convenient locations and does not have to be worn.
The Qblinks Cloud is currently involved with some other social platforms, such as Facebook, Twitter, Google Drive and Gmail. In the future, we expect to integrate with IFTTT to make the best use out of it.
There is no temperature sensor on iPhone, and Google now provides only weather forecast not ambient temperature. Since we are IOT-centric, temperature detection can be a feature nice to have, and the information can enable more applications when connected to the Qblinks Cloud.
