The former Ballet dancer was known as a chorographer, dancer, and music extraordinaire. His name was Marius Petipa. Marius was born in 1818 in Marseille, France. His mother was Jean Petipa and also known for being a successful ballet dancer. Marius came from a family background of excellent talent so it was no surprise that Marius started training at a very young age. He was seven years old and was being taught by his father. Marius' brother also followed in the foot steps.
As a teen, Marius' family moved to Brussels. This made a huge impact in his life. Petipa attended Grand College, where he studied music. He was a natural dancer. His effort and great improvement gave him the opportunity to appear in his father's production in 1831. Success came a long was for Petipa and in 1838, he studied at a well known theatre in Nantes, France. He appeared in many opera shows and very slowly started coming out of his shell. Petipa got the opportunity to work with many famous and talented people in the show business. He shared the stage with Lucien, August Vertis, Jules Perrot, and Arthur Saint-Leon. Later, he became the teacher of the Imperial Ballet Academy in St. Petersburg.
In his later years, Marius' passion for dancing grew stronger. He wanted much more. He traveled quite a lot going from Bordeaux to Madrid and a few other places. After many time of hard work and trying Marius got the chance to learn to speak Spanish. This was a great advantage when he choreographed ballets in Russia. He is known for his successful opera shows and his up-moving style of dances. Shortly after, Petipa's love life soon headed for a huge turn. He fell in love with a dancer and got engaged. The young lady was named Marie Scurvshikova. The marriage happened on 1854. Marius and Marie had a baby daughter together. Petipa choreographed a ballet number especially for his wife. It was named Un mariage sous régence. In 1882 Marius Petipa's wife, Marie, died. He later married another dancer named Lubova Leonidovna.
From then on, Marius' life wasn't full of joy. He continued working but it is believed he died a unhappy man.
