Historically, at private schools - and in many of the more formal State schools - boys were called only by their surnames. Brothers would be referred to as 'Smith major' and 'Smith minor'.

JK Rowling is simply perpetuating this in the boarding school world of Harry Potter.

Note: The other teachers have manners, so they address him as 'Mr Potter'.

Why did Severus Snape jinx Harry's broom in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone?

Professor Quirrell was jinxing the broom trying to make Harry fall off. Professor Snape was trying to keep him on it.

What is the significance that Harry Potter has his mother's eyes?

There is no real significance it is simply a trait that many people noticed about Harry that knew his mother. == Severus Snape and James Potter hated each other. However, Severus loved Lily Potter and was racked with guilt over his part in her death. Harry looked just like James and every time Snape looked at Harry he was reminded of all the awful things James did to him. Due to this Snape was never able to form a positive relationship with Harry. The exception to Harry's resemblance with James did not include his eyes. Harry had Lily's eyes. This was a constant reminder to Snape of his guilt and of what Voldemort could do. No matter how Snape felt about Harry, it was Lily's eyes that kept Snape committed to Harry and what he had to do to protect him and help him defeat Voldemort at any cost.

Is Albus Severus Potter in Gryffindor?

Severus Snape is Hogwarts' Potions master. He had become Dumbledore's staunch supporter after being a Death Eater, but he had to kill Dumbledore to convince Lord Voldemort that Snape was still on the dark side. Then, under Voldemort's direction, Snape became Defense Against the Dark Arts master then Headmaster. He loved Lily Evans, but Lily married James Potter. Snape had saved Harry's life twice (from Remus Lupin under a full moon (in the film only) and by sending the Order to the Department of Mysteries "to save Sirius"), but he still hates Harry, because Harry is James' son.

Why were snapes last words look at you?

For starters, Snape was not pleading with Harry to understand him or his motivations. Snape is a man who is hardly afraid of being hated or misunderstood. And he wasn't just giving Harry his marching orders for the showdown with Voldemort. He could have done that without showing Harry all of those embarrassing memories of Lily.Instead, Snape was finally acknowledging, for the first time to Harry at least, that Harry Potter was Lily's son too - not just James's son - and that he himself (Snape) bore a great deal of responsibility for destroying his childhood friendship with Lily. Snape is a proud man who chooses in his last moment to humble himself. With these memories, he acknowledges his own culpability, his own sin. He is finally revealing that he was not just an innocent victim of mean James Potter and the other Marauders. The key to this reading is that Snape freely gives Harry his worst school memory - the same memory that Harry stole a peak at after an Occlumency lesson. Harry's unearned look into the Pensieve had egregiously violated Snape's privacy, infuriating the Potions Master. But Snape seemingly forgives Harry here, not only giving him the complete memory, but revealing to Harry the ultimate consequences of young Snape's own actions.Harry already knows that Snape called his mother a mudblood when she rushed to defend him. But Harry had not previously seen Lily confront young Severus with the fact that he was now calling every muggle-born a mudblood. Yes, Harry probably suspected it, given Snape's Death Eater past, but Snape himselfchooses to reveal it to his least favorite pupil. And what does he reveal? That it was young Snape's corruption by the pure blood ideology - despite being a half-blood like Harry and Dumbledore - that destroyed a long friendship with Harry's mother.Yes, you can read "Look at me" as nothing more than the desire to gaze into Lily's eyes as he dies. Lots of Snape haters do. But given everything Snape shows Harry, it's more likely IMO that he's finally acknowledging, to Harry, that Harry is, as Dumbledore told him, his mother's son. He is not responsible for the sins of his father. He has his mother's eyes.

What is Harry's theory about Snape?

He thinks Snape is an evil git.Of course his theory is right, but it is not the complete truth: Snape is not just an evil git, but also the person who is told Voldemort the prophecy.

How do you know that Severus snape is good?

I do not think so as he wanted to harm Harry Potter all the time and he subtracted a lot of points from harry potter's house and supported Draco Malfoy and Slytherin the most. Plus, he made Neville's life a misery just for fun.

How did Harry Potter live after he died?

he gives him a container filled with all the important memories of Snape's that he (Snape) thinks will be useful to Harry, or explain things more clearly. They (mostly) revolve around Snape and Lily (Potter's Mum) starting from childhood right up to the time that Lily dies and the discussion that followed (with Dumbledore) after. It explains to Harry that even before Harry came to Hogwart's Snape was trying to help him, acting as spy for Dumbledore. Snape loved Lily so much that he protected her only son by spying even though he could have died because of it. It also explains to Harry that he (Harry) must die at Voldemort's hand to destroy the seventh Horcrux (himself).
