Rick Riordan like to write about mythology (Percy Jackson and The Olympians series's) and mystery (39 clues The maze of Bones). I've read all of these books by the author of my FAVORITE books. All my friends read them and LOVE them as much as I do.
His son was very interested in greek mythology and would make his dad (rick riordan) read him the stories. When they ran out of myths to read Riordan started to make up his own stories. He made Percy and all the other half-bloods ADHD because his son was ADHD and he wanted him to have a hero that had the same problem that he had.
Rick Riordan wrote Percy Jackson and the Olympians because he wanted to. Plus, he thought it would be a good story to get out to children to teach them Greek Mythology in a fun way.
