Lord Sebastian Coe is one of Britain's greatest ever athletes and head of the team which successfully brokered the 2012 Olympics bid. He has won two Olympic gold medals. He has held world records at 800m, 1000m, 1500m and one mile. He has attained twelve world records. Sebastian Coe retired from athletics in 1990, he then became a Member of Parliament for Falmouth and Cambourne in 1992. In 1997 he became a member of the International Olympic Committee. In May 2004 Lord Coe was appointed the Chairman of London 2012, the company which lobbied to hold the Olympic Games to London.
