well because espeon is a psychic type and umbreon is a dark type if they fought each other and were the same level umbreon would most likely win because psychic moves do 0 damage to dark type pokemon.
although fighting types are strong against dark types and weak against psychic types it all depends on what you're fighting.
Also if you somehow teach espeon miracle eye its psychic type moves will then be able to affect dark types by 1x.
