If it's pure water, I wouldn't put it ANYWHERE under the bonnet.
But if it's mixed with windscreen washer, I'd put it in the reservoir for the windscreen washers - if it was running low.
If it's mixed with anti-freeze, I'd put in the expansion tank for the radiator - if that was running low.
