In a previous episode, (4-18) "Foyet" offered Hotchner a deal to stop hunting him and he would stop the killings. Police captured him, but he escaped at the end of the episode. He is the one at the end of the seasons final episode, (4-26), that said "you should have taken the deal" and then shot Hotchner. Not sure if he lives or dies or is just written out of the show.
