Heracross Is A Non-Evolution Pokemon.
If you want the best Bug Pokemon I suggest you enter the Bug-catching contest in the national park north of Goldenrod City. Here you can find both Scyther and Pinsir and also other good BUG-type Pokemon. If you win the contest you will get a Sun Stone witch you can use to evolve a Gloom or a Sunkern.
Heracross is #214 in the national pokedex, and it is a Bug-Fighting type Pokemon.
Bug/Fighting
I'd recommend using flying type attacks, as Heracross has a x2 weakness to these types of attacks.
Your rival (officialy named Blue)'s Heracross knows the following moves:Megahorn(Bug-type)Counter(Fighting-type)Rock Tomb(Rock-type)Earthquake(Ground-type)
In that forest type place with the grass and stuff
Heracross is a fast grass type pokemon, if you are going to even have a grass type in your party i would get him yes but other wise stay away from most other grass types. P.S. unless its sythar.
Heracross does NOT evolve.
Heracross' name origin comes from the name Hercules and the word cross. It can also come from the word crosshair reffering to it's sharp aim. Heracross' species origin comes from the kabutomushi, a Japanese beetle found commonly in Japan and Asia. This beetle is very tough which is probably the reason why Heracross is a fighting type Pokemon. :)

It depends on the personality of your Heracross.
