The main events in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets are:
One main event in "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is the house-elf, Dobby, coming to visit Harry to warn him not to go back to Hogwarts. Harry, Ron, and Hermione making and taking polyjuice potion is another main event. Harry finding the Chamber of Secrets and rescuing Ginny is another main event in the story.
The big event in the first year of Harry Potter is that Voldemort, or You-Know-Who, was going after the sorcerer's stone. This would have made him immortal.
The Triwizard Tournament
Yes he is, but very distantly. However in Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows the book when James Potter II says he saw Victoire Weasly (George and Angelina Weasly's daughter) snogging Teddy Lupin Ginny says that she wished they could get married so he would be part of the family. On the other hand in the Order of the phoenix Sirius says that on the family tree is Bellatrix Lestrange. In Harry Potter and the deathly Hallows in the meeting at the start of the book discussing between the Death Eaters and Voldermort how Harry will be moved Voldermort jeers at Bellatrix saying that there was a happy event meaning the event of Tonks and Lupin's marriage. Tonks and Lupin are Teddy's late parents so Sirius so is related to Teddy. In the epilogue of Harry Potter and the deathly hallows Harry marries Ginny Weasly meaning he is related to all the Weaslys. In Harry Potter and the order of the phoenix Sirius says that the Weaslys are related to him but won't be on the family tree because they are blood traitors. Therefore Harry is related to Teddy Lupin.
Gregorovitch is a maker of magic wands, like Ollivander. We first hear of him in book 4, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, at the Weighing of the Wands ceremony. where he notes that the Durmstrang Champion, Viktor Krum, is using a "Gregorovitch creation". In book 7, Harry learns that he had owned the Elder Wand, and was saying that he would be analyzing it to find out its secrets. Ollivander is unsure whether Gregorovitch actually had the supposedly mythological Elder Wand; in any event, he was using rumors of his owning it as a means of advertising his business. The wand was apparently stolen from him, however. The identity of the thief, and where the Elder Wand ended up, constitute something of a spoiler and should not be revealed here.

Dumbledore defeating Grindelwald; Voldemort's first rise to power; the first Order of the Phoenix; the contacts between the Ministry of Magic and the Muggle Ministers; the founding of Hogwarts School; the first opening of the Chamber of Secrets...
OK it was Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets not the harry potter and the of secrets first event that was not particularly important was... 1) when professor Lockhart teaches defence against the dark arts class with pixies 2) another one was when harry and Ron disguise as Crab and Goile using pollyjuice potion to try and get information out of Draco Malfoy which is a pointless plan because it turns out Draco doesn't know that much anyway and Hermione gets turned into a cat when she drops cat hair into the pollyjuice potion ( yuk ) 3) another event is when the Derslys invite the masons over for tea and harry gets a surprise guest, a house elf named Doby is found in his bedroom telling him not to go back to Hogwarts harry refuses and doby throws a cake on ms masons head the vanishes so it looked like harry had done it, harry the finds himself locked in his room for days.

Voldemort killed his parents.
There were a few major moments for the shaping of Harry in the Sorcerer's Stone. However, the arguably most changing was his discovery of the Mirror of Erised.
Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger go through a series of challenges to stop Professor Quirrel and Lord Voldemort from stealing the Philosopher's Stone. Harry then has to face both Quirrel and Voldemort alone which results in the death of Quirrel.
The gas chamber was not an event.
