Yu-Gi-Oh cards are manufactured by Upper Deck, longtime fabricator of Baseball cards. Game cards are printed on high-quality cardstock using premium ink, and have a hologram embossed on the bottom-right. The hologram is the most difficult to duplicate and is the clearest giveaway. Some other, more subtle signs:
- The typefaces used in Yu-Gi-Oh are expensive and have been modified. Fake cards may not reproduce the fonts exactly.
- Yu-Gi-Oh cards, including holographic ones, have a semigloss finish. Fakes may have a shinier or matter finish.
- The high-quality cardstock used in game cards resists creasing when bent up to ninety degrees from the short sides. Fakes will fold almost immediately.
- Real cards, when ripped, have a black ribbon running through the center. Fakes usually don't.
- Holographic cards use either holofoil or fine prismatic foil. If the holographic card has a starburst pattern, large blocks of hologram, spirals, stars, or other details, it's a fake. Only the card art shows hologram foil, not the text or border. The ink almost never flakes off of the foil.
- Fakes may seem overly dark, blurry, washed-out, or have artifacts from the scanning process.
- Know which cards are holographic and which aren't. Yu-Gi-Oh cards are generally not printed in both holographic and standard versions.
Remember, if you have any doubt that the card is authentic, don't buy it. Purchase cards only in sealed packs, sealed decks, or from reputable dealers. Always closely examine cards before proceeding in trades.
1. There should be a shiny sticker at the bottom right corner. When you change the angle you look at it, you should see some symbols that represent those from Yugioh.
2. Look at the back of a real card (you know a card is real by buying a pack), and compare it to the back of a card you think is fake. Look for colour differences, thicker lines etc.
3. A common way to tell a real card from a fake without having to compare is to look at the back of the suspected card. If the "swirl" is a lighter brown than your used to, it is definitely fake.
A real Yu-Gi-Oh card should have a small silver foil square in the bottom right corner. If the card is first edition, then it will be gold. It should say "1996 KAZUKI TAKAHASHI" at the bottom right aswell. All Yu-Gi-Oh cards except a certain few will have some sort of number code in the bottom left. Some examples of cards that don't have these are Seiyaryu and Black Skull Dragon. Every REAL Yu-Gi-Oh card will say "KONAMI" on the back in the upper left corner. There will also be Red Japanese symbols in the bottom right corner along with "Yu-Gi-Oh!" over lapping it. Right below that, it will say "Trading Card Game". If a card doesn't have one of those (Save the Number code) then i wouldn't trust it.

No, Exodius the Ultimare Forbidden Lord is not a fake card. He was a shonen jump promotional card (JUMP-EN025) and later reprinted in the 2010 collector's tins and Battle Pack 2.
The only time a card's back should be different in any way from a regular card, is for the original God Cards, and asian-english cards like Kanan the Sword Mistress. If a card has english text but the back is different, it's a fake.
It sounds fake. The card, in English, should be named "Majestic Star Dragon". Its Japanese name is Saviour Star Dragon, but won't be written in English, however many fakes use the Japanese names.
No one will let u use fake cards and you waste money.

This trick works with all Yugioh cards. If you look in the lower right-hand corner, there should be a shiny sticker. If there isn't one, the card is a fake.

It is a fake card so should not be available from a place that sells real cards. You might find it on ebay or an online card store.
Read The Effect Of The Card... It'll usually say what the question mark is for... For instance, The Calculator... If it doesn't have an effect.. It's probably fake...

Not necessarily, as there are a few genuine monsters with 5000 ATK and DEF, namely Dragon Master Knight, Malefic Truth Dragon and Five-Headed Dragon.
