I inspired his work... ---------------------------------------- (No you didn't...) Rauschenberg became inspired after a chance visit to a gallery while serving in the US forces. While studying at Black Mountain College, he met John Cage and Merse Cunningham, and made a few artworks in his later life dedicated to them. Modern culture also inspired his work. He made a lot of art that questioned modern American political life, and highlighted relevant issues such as homosexuality in art such as 'Monogram'. In his later life, he became inspired by the progression of science, and subsequently teamed up with scientists and created artworks such as 'Mud Muse', which featured mud bubbles that responded to sound in the gallery.
