Chapter 2: "Three Old Ladies Knit the Socks of Death"
Percy and Grover saw three old ladies knitting socks by the side of the road, at a fruit stand, across a 4 lane highway, next to their broken down bus. Grover gets nervous that while Percy was looking at the ladies, they cut their yarn. He says, they never pass 6th grade, and he is a keeper, and is worried about Percy. On the bus Grover gave Percy his card just in case Percy needed it. By that time Percy had a lot of questions like: Why am I in danger?, Why did you give me your card?, What are you talking about?
Percy Jackson is a twelve-year-old boy diagnosed with ADHD and dyslexia, who has been expelled from several schools, the latest being Yancy Academy. During a school field trip to a museum, his Algebra teacher, Ms. Dodds, attacks Percy, revealing that she is one of the three Furies (also called Kindly Ones). After school had ended, Percy comes home to his stepfather, Gabe Ugliano. Gabe, a gruff, egocentric man, treats Percy and Percy's mother, Sally, badly. Percy's mother allows this mistreatment because Gabe "takes care of them" economically. To get away from Gabe, Sally takes Percy on a trip to Long Island for a three day vacation. In the middle of the first night, Percy's friend Grover, who is revealed to be a satyr, a half-man-half goat protector assigned to Percy, finds him and warns him that the Kindly Ones are looking to kill him. Sally drives them both to Camp Half-Blood, a camp for demigods where they can train and be safe, to keep Percy from being killed. As they drive toward the camp, they are attacked by a Minotaur, which grabs Percy's mother by her throat. She dissolves into a golden shower of light, while Grover and Percy narrowly escape and enter the camp. Percy is moved into the Hermes cabin under the care of Luke, the cabin counselor. During a Capture the Flag game, Percy is attacked by the children of Ares. Injured during the exercise, he steps into the adjoining river and not only is healed by the waters, but Poseidon's trident appears above his head, revealing him to be the son of Poseidon. Poseidon has broken an oath taken with Hades and Zeus after World War II to refrain from having any more children with mortal women seeing as how the children sometimes become too powerful and often become a threat. Percy is then granted a quest to find Zeus's master bolt which Chiron, one of Percy's tutors at the camp, believes Hades has stolen. However, Zeus, who discovered Poseidon had broken his oath, believes Poseidon had Percy steal the bolt. Percy, who has ten days before summer solstice to find the bolt, is given magic shoes by Luke before leaving on the quest. Percy, accompanied by Annabeth and Grover, decides to travel west to reach the entrance to the Underworld in Los Angeles. They encounter Greek monsters including Medusa and the Furies, and also Ares (god of war), who tells Percy that his mother is alive. As they approach the Pit of Tartarus, Luke's shoes try to drag Grover over the edge into it, but he manages to slip his hooves free. Percy confronts Hades, who also believes Percy has stolen the Master Bolt as well as his Helm of Darkness, an object that allows him to become a shadow. Percy realizes that Ares has tricked him when he discovers the bolt in his backpack. He flees from the Underworld, forced to leave his mother. He then fights and defeats Ares by hurting the god's heel. Ares gives Percy the Helm of Darkness which he asks the Furies, who witnessed everything, to return to Hades. Percy takes the risk of going into the sky, the realm of Zeus, (takes a plane), and arrives in New York City to give the master bolt to Zeus at level 600 of the Empire State Building, where Olympus is now located. Zeus accepts the master bolt and Percy returns to camp, after learning that his mother is alive. He meets Luke, who reveals that he stole the bolt for Kronos. He calls out a poisonous scorpion which stings and nearly kills Percy. Chiron cures him and Percy leaves to attend another school found by his mother, Annabeth returns to live with her mortal father, and Grover embarks on a journey as a "seeker", to try and find the great god Pan

Ah, what a delightful memory! Annabeth affectionately calls Percy "seaweed brain" in the very first book of our adventures, "Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief." It's a charming nickname that reflects their playful banter and deep friendship. Just like happy little trees in a painting, their bond grows stronger with each adventure they embark on together.

he joined kronos
The lightning thief was Ares, and he was not in chapter 12. Percy does have dreams about Hades though implying that he thinks Percy is the lightning thief.
