When Articuno faints, you lost your only chance to get it. Articuno is a legendary Pokemon, and can only be battled once. If you saved beforehand, you can shut the game off and turn it back on to re-battle it. Otherwise, you can no longer get an Articuno. [blackhole23] Actually from Pokemon Platnium on the way of catching legendary pokemon has changed. If you flee or cause a stationary pokemon (such as the legendary birds in the game) then you can reappear by defeating the Elite Four again. This can be done multiple times as long as you keep defeating the Elite. For roaming Pokemon (such as Entei and Latias), if you defeat them you can go up to the person who first told you of them (Steven for Latias) in the location youfirst talked to them and they'll reappear.
