In the new Iron Man movie, Iron Man 2, tony Stark created a new element. The name of this new element was Palladium.
No, an element in the miniature arc reactor he built first (that he had at the start of Iron Man 2) was Palladium (Pd) and it was rapidly increasing his blood toxicity and would eventually have killed him. When he met Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson), Agent Romanov injected him with Lithium Dioxide which subsided the Palladium 'poisoning', this didn't quite solve his problem. He needed a replacement for the Palladium which would not eventually kill him. Later, after an epiphany, you saw him building a large tube that goes around in a circle, this (i think) is a Proton Accelerator which is essential to creating new elements. Somehow he created a new element in what you see, i don't quite know, I'm only 14. This new element was an exceptional substitute for the life-threatening Palladium and it also won't kill him.
I don't know what element Iron Man created but i believe it is fictional and not on the periodic table (unlike Palladium). He may have created Vibranium - an element in Captain America's shield (as seen, unfinished, in the movie). This is unlikely as Vibranium is found only in Wakanda, according to the comics.
He may have created Adamantium, the primary element injected into Wolverine.
The element is a 'heavy metal' which means if you ingest it it will never (ever) leave your system. Other 'heavy metals' are Lead and etc.
Keep up your science study.
Just looked up something: In the Iron Man 2 Novel (released in April 2010) "Stark, discovering this new, powerful element. Stark thought to himself, since it absorbs vibrations I should call it Vibranium." This contradicts what i said before but is the best source of info i have.
Correction: He did not create Adamantium, since Adamantium itself is an vibranium/iron alloy. My best guess would also be vibranium. Wakanda is the only KNOWN place that has vibranium and even that in the form of vibranium ore that fell in Wakanda as a meteorite.
There are also other materials, some of them purely magic, like the surf of Silver Surfer or Mjolnir, hammer of Thor.
****SPOILERS FROM IRON MAN 2**** The Paladium core used in his original arc reactor starts poisoning his blood, and so he eventually develops a new element that the arc reactor can run off, which is triangle shaped.
Iron ore is a natural mineral this is used by man to make Iron.
The Iron Man Suit Is Made Of The Same MaterialsThrough Out Iron Man Movies 1-2, Also In The Avengers. This Material Is A Gold-Titanium Alloy Mix Which Was Designed By Tony Stark Himself In The Movie And In The Newer Generation Comics. For Those Who Are Curious The Material Used In The Original Comics For The Iron Man Suits Was Never Specified, Only Recent Comics And The Movies Have Specified Into The Suits Exact Materials.(Also Note That The Gold-Titanium Alloy And The Arc Reactor Technology Is Science Fiction At This Time In Modern Technology.)

The Dorians used Iron swords, shields, spears (iron tips), stone axes and hammers
Yes, it is used to make cooking utensils such as iron.
Although many elements make up car batteries, the nickel and iron battery has dominated for decades.
Uranium is the fuel... moderators can be water... control rods are various substances to absorb extra neutrons some use carbon. Steel (iron) is what the reactor vessel is made of.
reactors cannot operate on fuel that is unable to support a neutron chain reaction in at least one of its isotopes.actually all the transuranic elements, not just plutonium, make excelent reactor fuel.
Iron, cobalt, and nickel are commonly used elements to make permanent magnets. These elements have magnetic properties that allow them to retain their magnetism over a long period of time.
The two elements that make up steel are mainly carbon and iron.

An arc reactor is a fictional power source in the Marvel Comics universe, notably used by Tony Stark (Iron Man) to power his suit and other technological inventions. It generates energy by converting electricity into a near-limitless supply of power.
While palladium is used in certain types of fuel cells, it is not typically used in constructing arc reactors as portrayed in popular fiction like Iron Man. The concept of an arc reactor is mainly a fictional device, and the materials and technologies involved in its construction do not exist in reality.
Uranium. There is some interest in using thorium in the future. Thorium cannot be used directly as fuel in a reactor as it does not fission, it requires a fast breeder reactor to convert it to Uranium-233 which does fission.
