There's the myth that he always wears a deerstalker hat and Inverness cape, but, in the original stories, he is only shown in those clothes in two stories requiring travel. Then there's the stereotype that Watson is a short, fat, old man. But he's not that much older than Sherlock Holmes, and he was actually an army doctor, which actually requires him to be quite fit. He's better described as "stocky".
