Growlithe is one of the "version-specific" Pokemon. Growlithe is only available in HeartGold, while in SoulSilver you can only get Vulpix.
In the Pokemon games where Snorlax occur, there are only one or two available to catch. In the first generation games there is a sleeping Snorlax at Routes 12 and 16. In the second generation, there is one outside of Vermillion City. In the sixth generation, there is one on Route 7.
U can only get 2 snorlax unless you trade!!

in front of the diglett cave there should be a sleeping snorlax. if you have the radio card for this region one of the stations should have the pokeflute. turn that on and exit from the raadio. talk to snorlax battle it and go through diglett cave. Pewter is around that general area
