Could the line of succession to the British throne be changed?

The line of succession changes each time someone dies or is born into the Royal Family. Every new baby is added to it in the right place, and everyone who dies is taken out. More than that, the rules that govern the succession can be changed. It is a bit complicated by the fact that the British monarch is also the monarch of the United Kingdom which comprises several kingdoms throughout the world. It involves, I believe, unanimous agreement among all the kingdoms in the realm. The rules of succession are in the process of being changed right now, or perhaps the change has been made. According to the rules up to the accession of Elizabeth II, a monarch's male heirs always have precedence over female heirs. If Elizabeth had had a brother, he would have inherited the crown and not Elizabeth, even if he was a younger brother. If Charles had had an older sister, he would still be next in line. This happened also to be the case for Elizabeth I, and for Victoria, arguably two of the greatest monarchs ever. The present is an auspicious time to make such a change, since at the moment it will not change any living person's position in line. If the change has not yet been agreed, it should be done before Prince William has his first child or there may be some disputes among some unhappy royals.Elizabeth II is already one of the most beloved of British monarchs, and she may even become the longest reigning monarch in English/British history. It seems to make no sense at all for female heirs to be treated differently from male heirs.
