"The big deal" is that it's what prompted Voldemort to go after Harry in the first place. The prophecy speaks of an enemy with powers to match the Dark Lord's -- that's Harry. Voldemort attacked Harry because of the prophecy, because he believed that the person of whom the prophecy spoke was his one and only threat. No prophecy=no Harry Potter books. ;)
Harry was accidentally made into Voldemort's Horcrux. This created a connection between Harry's and Voldemort's mind. This caused nightmares which Harry was able to check by using Occlumency.
The main conflict is Harry needs to find all the Horcruxes to be able to defeat Voldemort and he solves it by skipping school and going to look for them.
Voldemort is incapable of love. This is why Harry is able to defeat him.
Hogwarts was the only place Tom Riddle (Voldemort) had ever felt truly at home, and shortly after arriving there, he became obsessed with his heritage. Dumbledore showed Harry a memory of Tom visiting Hepzibah Smith, who showed him two of the later horcruxes, one of Ravenclaw's (the diadem), and one of Hufflepuff's (the cup), which he later killed Miss Smith just for these two items. Harry and Dumbledore were able to deduce that Voldemort would look for other important objects relating to his heritage.

To be able to register, you had to click on this photo, then go through the process of creating your account.

The hope is that Professor Snape won't be able to steal the philosopher's stone for Voldemort because he won't be able to get past Fluffy especially not while Dumbledore is still in the castle. Then the hope becomes that Harry will be able to save the stone.
