I believe Green Day formed at around 1988 (but before that, Mike and Billie Joe were in their own small band called Sweet Children). Their first album was colled 1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours. By that time, Al Saborant was their drummer and Tre Cool joined after Saborant went to collage.
