# The answer to this varies based on the demand for the particular Artist's work. Most Artist's, regardless of the medium start their pricing low when they first start out, although thought must be given to the cost of supplies etc. A sketch artist would have very low supply costs (paper, pencil or charcoal probably) so they should consider determining a base price they feel good about based on the size of the piece and not factor much of the price including supply costs. They should consider entering Art Shows or joining other art groups that do exhibits together so they can see what similar work is selling for. Overall it's truly a supply vs. demand situation. Sorry there is no easy answer.
