first to beat the gym leaders you need a water type because they have rock & phykic type pokemon. when you go into the gym you go up 5 spaces and across to your left 3 times and there is a switch. press the 'A' button and a part of the track will move. now go to your right 2 times and down 4 times. next go to the track that you're nearest. after you have no choice but to battle someone. go down one and right 3 times and another person is wanting to battle. next move to your left 3 times and you will be next to a switch, press that switch and you can see another part of the track move. after you move out of that room with the switch move to your left until you cant and move down 3 spaces and move left it will lead you to another room with a switch, you dont have to battle him but you can press the switch with-out battling the person. now go all the way back to the beginning but don't go out unless you want to do it again. now go and take the ride from the beginning and go through it and when you come out of the track you battle another one and finally flick th FINAL switch and go once more to the begining and feel like its a roller-coaster and you will be in-front of the gym leader.
This gym has a bit confusing path but i guess you can pass this path to beat the gym leader,catch a sableye with good dark attacks(if no teach it some good moves like sahdow ball)and then easily you can beat the gym,it may also help in the league
