Gacy would make contact with his victim, many times promising a job at his construction company. The lure of the opportunity to earn money was the downfall of many of Gacy's victims. Once Gacy picked a victim he would take them to his home, usually ply them with alcohol and strangle and rape them.
Gacy fell under suspicion when young men began to disappear. Gacy was the common denominator which led to his being surveilled and finally arrested. Many of the boys and young men had either worked or inquired about work at Gacy's contruction business.
John Wayne's second son Patrick Wayne played in McLintock.
He had a son and a daughter when he was living in Waterloo, Iowa, but their identinties and whereabouts have been kept off the records.Nobody really knows. Gacy's sister has tried to keep in contact with them but they have refused for obvious reasons. Although I'm sure they love their aunt, the need to break ties with their old life is understandable.
I have studied serial murder for many years and John Wayne Gacy is still one of the most disturbing killers of our time. If we can learn anything at all from Gacy it would be that appearances can be deceiving. Gacy gave most people the impression that he was a benign family man and civil servant. Gacy did in fact give warning signs that all was not well within his mind but he somehow fell through the cracks and was able to murder at least 33 young men and boys. Gacy was a malignacy on the human race and in a more perfect world he should have been shut down before he was allowed to kill a single person. But of course we do not live in a perfect world, the most we can do at this point is to try to learn from the past and try to prevent any future killers like Gacy.
