John Hadley, of Norman, Oklahoma, wrote the song "Old Bones" which George Burns recorded in 1980. Hadley is a former professor of art at the University of Oklahoma (1965-1987) began his musical career with the Somthers Brothers. He has written some 1,000 songs and has 18 million copies of his songs sold worldwide.

George Burns (January 20, 1896 - March 9, 1996), born Nathan Birnbaum, was a rustic singer. The song "Old Bones" was written by John Hadley and performed by George Burns in 1980. Dean Martin (1983) and Ernie Carson (1994) also recorded the song, and videos of George Burn's performance can be found on YouTube.
